Have you ever forgotten your water bottle while hiking? Or found yourself in a remote area without knowing where to find a water source? In such moments, WaterWise is your go-to solution.
For a group project for university, we created WaterWise, an app designed to track and save the locations of water sources. It also offers navigation to help users reach these vital locations, making it a must-have tool for outdoor enthusiasts, water conservationists, and emergency services.
The initial step involved the creation of wireframes to test and establish overall guidelines, clarify content blocks, and solidify the website's structure.
After finalising the apps goals, user personas were developed to encapsulate the essential traits, requirements, and behaviours of the app's intended audience.
Jayden mainly aims to enjoy his outdoor adventures while prioritising safety and well-being. Finding accessible and safe drinking water is crucial for staying hydrated during hikes and preventing dehydration. Jayden wants an app to locate water sources along his route when planning his hiking trips so he can refill his water supply.
Michelle's role involves disaster and emergency response, with a focus on saving lives and ensuring access to clean drinking water for affected individuals. She also collaborates with responders to establish communication networks and assess community needs. To enhance her efficiency during emergencies, she requires an app that can provide real-time data to locate safe water sources for distribution, thus expediting response times.
Anthony's is a small business owner who runs a café business by offering top-notch beverages. To achieve this goal, having an uncontaminated source of drinking water for his coffee and other drinks is essential. He wants and app that enables him to make informed decisions regarding water treatment and filtration for his business.
John, as a volunteer, wants to help underserved communities gain access to safe drinking water. His work revolves around improving the quality of life and health of those without water sources. John wants an app to coordinate his volunteer efforts and resources to impact those communities that lack access to drinking water. However, he is not tech-savvy and desires a user-friendly registration process with minimal personal information required, ensuring a seamless and hassle-free experience.
The cool and light blue colours were used to reflect the security, support, and reliability this app will provide, while including a sans-serif font to add a modern touch. Google Maps is currently used as the background dummy images when the navigation mode is activated until a mapping system has been created.
